About Me

I am dedicated to sharing what I believe to the essence of yoga: a traditional yoga philosophy and practice available to everyone.

Qualifications
Originally trained in Ashtanga yoga, I then qualified in a 500 hour general Hatha Yoga programme. I am registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals and REPS and am a member of the British Wheel of Yoga. I also used to be a Yoga Rebels teacher taking yoga into secondary schools, but unfortunately had to give that up due to too many commitments! I attend regular CPD (continuous professional development) days, mostly with the British Wheel.  In 2015 I achieved Senior Yoga Teacher status with Yoga Alliance Professionals meaning I am now qualified to teach teacher training courses.

Here’s a Bit More About Me

I came to yoga relatively late in life at the age of 41. Like many people I came for the physical challenge and stayed for the mental one. I am not a super bendy rubber band kind of person, I have a small degree of natural flexibility and the rest is the result of my yoga practice. There are some advanced postures that I will never do and there are some that I have done but no longer practice as I do not find them of benefit to me personally, but I'll still teach them to you if you want to learn them. After practicing for a few years I knew that I wanted to teach and underwent teacher training. At that time I never dreamt that I would be lucky enough to make this my new career and  I found myself at 53 turning my part time job into a full time one.

Yoga has helped me through all kinds of events in my life, including a brush with cancer, and I feel it has always helped keep a positive outlook even when things weren’t looking so great. Yoga is an integral part of my life and I keep trying to be a better Yogini.
